Maternity and gynaecology psychology service
Who we are
We are a team of Psychologists/ Psychological Therapists who are specialised in providing psychological support and treatment to individuals who have difficulties coping with physical, psychological and emotional challenges related to maternal or gynaecological matters.
We occasionally take on psychological therapy trainees on doctorate programmes. These are psychologists who are offering therapy sessions under the supervision of our senior psychologists.

- Bereavement in relation to losing their baby
- Complex birth experiences
- Trauma related to previous birth experiences
- Fertility difficulties
- Foetal medicine
- Phobias around childbirth or gynaecological examinations
- Gynaecological conditions such as endometriosis and other gynaecological conditions that cause distress and pain
What do we offer?
We offer a range of evidence-based psychological therapies including:
-
Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
-
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing Therapy)
-
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
Following your referral to our service, we shall contact you to discuss your concerns. You will be offered a psychological assessment, and subsequently we shall discuss and decide the best way to support you with your difficulties. This may include offering you a course of therapy sessions and/or a follow-up if you are unsure about therapy at this stage. In some cases, we can provide couple’s therapy, this will depend on your needs and will be discussed during your psychological assessment. If we are not the best service to meet your needs, we can sign post you to other services.
We offer a psychology plan specific to your needs and we have flexibility in offering face to face, videocall or telephone therapy sessions. These are often on a weekly basis, but we can adjust to a pace that is right for you.
