National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is a special health authority, set up in 1999, to reduce variation in the availability and quality of NHS treatments and care. NICE provides national guidance, quality standards and advice for public health and social care to improve health and social care.
NICE publish new guidance documents each month. The NELFT Clinical Audit and NICE Team download the new guidance each month for dissemination to the NELFT Clinical Professional and Advisory Group (CPAG) which reviews the guidance for applicability to NELFT.
Assurance for compliance with NICE in NELFT is provided by monitoring the dissemination of NICE guidance including Technology Appraisal Guidance (TAGs); through NICE related clinical audits as part of the Trust's annual Clinical Audit Programme.
