Volunteers Week 2022 - A time to say thanks
Our volunteers at NELFT go above and beyond to help support us in delivering the best possible patient care.
We asked our teams to share some positive experiences that they have encountered working with our volunteers. Beverley Hoyte, SPA transformation project lead, shares her story.
"In my role as project manager within the Acute and Rehab Directorate in 2021 I worked with our excellent volunteers for three months from January to March 2021 during the very challenging time of the pandemic.
We were in the fortunate position of the Trust kindly offering free food for staff and the volunteer team organised for a group of volunteers to support the distribution of food six days a week (Monday to Saturday) over the three months at Sunflowers Court.
They were a very pro-active and helpful team of volunteers and, on arrival each day at Sunflowers Court, they quickly organised themselves in order to receive the delivery of food parcels from the providers, store them within a central location, contact the wards and teams and sometimes deliver the food directly to the teams. They also liaised well with our reception team at Sunflowers Court.
"I was really impressed with their dedication and organisational skills and we would not have been able to manage the distribution of food without their help."
