Love is in the air at NELFT this Valentine's Day

On Valentine’s Day, we share our NELFT love stories, from couples working together within the Trust to teams sharing their love after having worked together during the most difficult year in the Trust’s history.

Julie and Richard King

julie and richard kingJulie and Richard did not meet at NELFT but they both work for the Trust now within the prosthetic service at the Long Term Conditions Centre. They have had to change their wedding plans due to the pandemic but they have not let COVID-19 get in the way of their special day.

Julie told us: "We met at a Beatles tribute night out, but both of our mum’s had been friends for many years before me and Rich actually met each other. We was finally able to get married in December 2020 after our original wedding plans had to be cancelled in May 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We had to make many changes to our wedding plans due to the different restrictions being announced, but we finally became Mr and Mrs King on 3 December 2020. It was one of the best days of our lives. We will be planning a large celebration with all our extended family and friends when COVID-19 restrictions are eased. We also welcomed our little boy (George) into the world in 2019, who is now a cheeky 2 year old and completes our little family."

Claire said: "I would like to share the love for the south west essex community diabetes team. I joined the team in 2010 originally and they have had a massive part of my heart since. They are the most kind, caring and compassionate colleagues. Like a marriage there has been good and bad times. Encouragement and laughter. Forgiveness and togetherness and a lifetime of learning."

 Jo Berry

Jo berry Jo works in the communications team and would like to share her love for her colleague and work bestie Jas.

Jo said: "Jas and I have worked together in the communications team for nearly 10 years and seen huge changes in both the organisation and our team in that time. We have been through everything together, consultations, office moves, event planning and not just at work but also in our personal lives too, we have watched our kids growing into teens together and we're always sharing beauty tips or household tips with each other!

"Jas has been a great friend for all these years and I know I can always go to her for great advice and a reality check! Jas is about to go on an exciting secondment opportunity with another team and I want to take this opportunity to wish her the very best of luck and tell her and I can't even express how much I'll miss her when she's gone but I know that we'll remain great friends as I consider her a friend for life now no matter where we work. I definitely have a whole lotta love for Jas."
