Reserves Day 2023
Today is Reserves Day and we would like to thank all Reservists across the UK for their dedication, professionalism and commitment to serving our country.
Reservists give up their spare time to serve in the Reserve Forces, balancing their civilian life with a military career to ensure that should their country require them, they would be ready to serve as part of the military.
NELFT has signed the Armed Forces Covenant and are proud recipients of the Gold Award Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme as a result of our ongoing commitment to the Armed Forces.
We are dedicated to supporting our employees who are Reservists and Cadet Adults Force Volunteers. Below are some of our initiatives:
- 10 extra paid days leave for Reservists and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers to attend their annual training.
- A Reserves Forces Training and Mobilisation Policy. This supports our employees who choose to be members of the Reserve forces, by accommodating their training and deployment where possible.
- A guaranteed interview scheme for the Armed Forces Community.
- Advocate the employment of veterans, service leavers, reservists and military spouses/partners through the Step into Health Programme and the Career Transition Partnership (CTP).
- Encourage NELFT employees to join the Reserves Forces.
- Armed Forces staff network which provides a safe space to listen to employees who are part of the armed forces community and recognise their value within the Trust;
- Enable a degree of flexibility in granting leave for Service spouses and partners before, during and after a partner’s deployment.
