NELFT proudly signs up to Essex Family-Friendly Employers Charter

The Essex Family-Friendly Employers Charter is a set of minimum principles that employers in Essex should meet to be deemed family-friendly. By signing up, we pledge our commitment to adopt family-friendly policies. This means working parents or carers can be confident that they are working for, or, applying for a job at an organisation that is committed to supporting staff to achieve a healthy work-life balance.

Brid Johnson, Director of Operations for Essex and Kent, said:

“We pride ourselves on employing the best people to provide the best care to our patients, and very often these people have families or conflicting demands on their time. We support the Essex Family Friendly Charter, as it enables our diverse workforce to have rewarding careers and a fulfilling family life which reflects the patients we serve. Family friendly working is at the heart of our Trust and firmly embedded within our culture.”

We offer a range of flexible working arrangements, which can be requested from day 1 of employment, removing the need to meet the 26 weeks statutory requirement. Our family friendly policies have been incredibly beneficial for NELFT staff with families, alongside supportive initiatives such as our Parents and Carers Staff Network.

As part of our commitment to the Essex Family Friendly Employers Charter, we will share good practice and continue to implement innovative policies to help staff manage work and caring commitments.

Further information about the Charter can be found on the Essex County Council website.
