NELFT clinician celebrates NHS75 at No 10
North East London Foundation Trust Occupational Therapist, Jay Sundersingh, attended a reception party with the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, at 10 Downing Street, to celebrate the 75th birthday of the NHS.
Jay was among other NHS Trust representatives invited to celebrate frontline workers and volunteers who have contributed to the health service. Attendees were greeted by the Prime Minister and political and government leaders.
The father of two from Ilford joined NELFT in 1991 as Occupational Therapist in Barking, Havering and Redbridge Integrated Discharge Hub and has since served in many roles, helping to train new starters in his field and representing staff as a Union representative.
Jay was personally selected by NELFT acting Chief Executive, Jacqui Van Rossum, to attend the event.
Commenting on his nomination to attend, Jay said:
“The news was announced on my birthday, so not only was it an honour but a very special birthday gift to represent the Trust.
“Over the years, I have seen the NHS change, but patients and the duty of care remain a priority which makes it the best health service provider.”
Jay wore a three-piece Indian suit to reflect the rich diversity in the Trust and the NHS. He was delighted to meet the Prime Minister and other senior government and health leaders.
