NELFT’s charity, the Health Way Foundation raised an astonishing £315,000 through donations, fundraising and grants in 2023.

The NHS charity funds projects relating to Trust environments, patient activities, staff well-being, innovation and non-essential equipment in order to help patients access the best possible care when they need it the most. This is achieved through providing extra funding for Trust environments, patient activities, staff wellbeing, innovation, and non-essential equipment.

Peer facilitation support, emergency funding for refugee services and eating disorder support packs for university students are some of the projects that the money raised has helped fund.

Two inpatient wards for young people at Brookside and Kent and Medway Adolescent Hospital, received vital support for young people during the school holidays.

Gill Burns, Director of Children’s services, said:

“We are so grateful to everyone who raised money to support our young people who have been able to experience some fantastic activities and opportunities. This provided young people with a space to have fun and engage in meaningful occupations, as well as allowing them to develop life skills such as teamwork, better communication, and independence.”

Health and wellbeing grants helped support the development of staff rooms and community packages for NELFT staff.

Staff taking part in the May Step Challenge and RideLondon raised over £3,000 last year.

In 2024, the Health Way Foundation is doing the 24 for 24, where 24 individuals or teams create their own fundraising event or join in one of the challenges for the year, including Ride London.
