NELFT Celebrates The Opening Of The New Jane Atkinson Health And Wellbeing Centre

NELFT held an official opening ceremony of the new Jane Atkinson Health and Wellbeing Centre on Wednesday 22 January.  In attendance were local partners and colleagues to celebrate the official opening of the new facility.

Professor Oliver Shanley OBE, Interim CEO, Joe Fielder, Chair of NELFT and Integrated Care Director Sue Boon jointly hosted the opening ceremony, and NELFT service leads took guests on a tour of the building highlighting the innovative self-service check-in, agile and collaboration zones and state of the art IT.

The new facility is named in honour of former Chair Jane Atkinson and Jane’s family were present. Will Hutton described Jane as a passionate mental health visionary and the naming of the centre as a fitting tribute.

The centre is a state-of-the-art mental health and wellbeing hub, where services that were previously delivered from and around the Thorpe Coombe site are now situated in this new and contemporary development, thus enabling greater integrated working between NELFT mental health and community teams.

The modern décor has been designed to make visitors feel safe and comfortable and updated technology allows NELFT colleagues to continue to improve the out of hospital mental and community health offer whilst delivering person-centred care.
