NELFT celebrates Autism Acceptance Week

This week, NELFT is celebrating Autism Acceptance Week bringing awareness and helping to create a society that works for autistic people.

It is estimated that around one percent of the adult population is autistic. Autism is a lifelong condition that affects how people perceive the world and interact with others. Seen as a developmental condition, characterised by impairments in social interaction, social imagination, and communication.

The NELFT Adult Autism Service is hosting a range of events to raise awareness and to promote acceptance through educational and interactive activities. There are a variety of events planned which everyone is welcome to join.

  • Friday 4th April, 10am to 2pm – Join a drop-in session at Dagenham Library for autism related games and activities.
  • Friday 4th April – Autism inspired artwork competition launch – Winning artwork will be published on the NELFT Specialist Psychological Services social media pages (@nelft_sps) and displayed in the Dagenham clinic.   • Tuesday 8th April, 1pm to 2pm - “Me, Myself, and Autism”: A presentation by a service user with lived experience of autism on MS Teams.
  • Tuesday 8th April, 5pm to 6pm - Autism Acceptance Week Quiz on MS Teams.
