NELFT appoints new Lead Professional for Peer Support Workers
NELFT is pleased to announce the appointment of the new Lead Professional for Peer Support Workers, Faith Amasowomwan.
Faith, who began as a Support, Time, and Recovery worker on a forensic ward, brings a wealth of experience to this role, including working as a Mental Health Researcher, International Advocacy Manager, and a Patient Involvement Lead.
Faith’s interest in mental health and the genuine human connection has guided her career in both the public and charity sectors focusing on Lived Experience engagement, access to healthcare, and Equality, Diversity, & Inclusion.
Over Faith’s first few months, she will be focusing on developing a Peer Support Strategy that not only serves our service users but also nurtures the Trust’s Peer Support Workers, ensuring their well-being and creating a supportive environment and embed a solid foundation to enable the new professional role for Peer Support Worker to grow within NELFT.
Faith said:
“I've already started to connect and collaborate with other Trusts and Peer Support Networks, learning from each other to make this experience meaningful for everyone involved.
“It is evident that the culture at NELFT is one that puts people first, and while there's work ahead in enhancing service user experience and engagement, we are definitely moving in the right direction. It's still early days but I'm excited about the learning ahead and the positive impact we can collectively create”.
