Corringham Integrated Medical and Wellbeing Centre shortlisted for HSJ Awards 2024
The Corringham Integrated Medical and Wellbeing Centre has been shortlisted for the Place-based Partnership & Integrated Care Award at the annual HSJ awards.
The Thurrock Alliance, made up of NELFT, alongside their partners, Essex Partnership University Trust (EPUT), Thurrock Council and local community and voluntary services have worked together to make Thurrock's first neighbourhood health and wellbeing hub, Corringham Integrated Medical and Wellbeing Centre (CIMWC).
The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony taking place in London on the 21 November 2024.
Partnership Director for Thurrock Council, NELFT and EPUT, Rita Thakaria said,
"CIMWC exemplifies how a partnership-driven, integrated approach can transform local health and care delivery. With a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and community engagement, the centre has created a sustainable model for integrated care that is being adopted across the region and beyond, whilst continuing to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for residents.
"As a national pioneer, the medical and wellbeing centre transitions from traditional healthcare models to an organic, collaborative, community-focused space. It integrates partnerships across health, housing, mental health, social care, and the local voluntary sector, enhancing care accessibility and collaboration.
"With improved primary and secondary care access and positive resident feedback, CIMWC addresses local health inequalities. Bringing the medial and wellbeing centre into the heart of the community has allowed residents to receive care closer to home and has helped untangle the complexities of care through stronger relationships and community connections."
NELFT Chief Executive Officer, Paul Calaminus, said:
"The Corringham Integrated Medical and Wellbeing Centre is a pioneer of collaborative excellence, bringing together 7 providers and more than 20 health and wellbeing teams into one multidisciplinary facility.
"Providing services across physical health, mental health, social care, and the community sector, all under one roof, CIMWC ensures that Thurrock residents can access comprehensive support services within their community, keeping them healthier and more active while preventing the need for extensive medical intervention or unwanted hospital admissions.
We are committed to ensuring the Corringham centre goes beyond just healthcare, which is why have engaged with local schools in hand-painting and gardening activities, and created a warm space last winter for those affected by the cost of living crisis. CIMWC is dedicated to being a pillar of the local community, promoting well-being in every aspect of life."
