Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week 2020
On Thursday 6th February 2020, North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT) and Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT) held a joint celebration event at Queen’s Hospital to celebrate the achievements of apprentices during National Apprenticeship Week 2020.
The celebration event showcased the experiences of current apprentices and recognised the achievements of apprenticeship graduates who had completed their apprenticeship qualification in the past two years.
The final award presentation was co-hosted by Matt Garvey, professional rugby player for Bath Rugby, who shared his own experience of being an apprentice at the start of his career and the BHRUT interim CEO Tony Chambers who congratulated the apprentices and their managers for their efforts and told the audience ‘The stories you’ve heard today, the stories you will share…are really important and will encourage people to get involved in Apprenticeships.’
Among those awarded with a certificate was Alice Cleaver who has been at NELFT since September 2017, having joined as an apprentice at the Aubrey Keep Library. She was accompanied by her manager Natasha Howard who said ‘We’ve really loved having Alice and we’re so pleased that she’s been able to stay on with us as a library assistant and we’ve enjoyed having an apprentice so much that we’re actually currently recruiting for an apprentice vacancy.’
Apprenticeship programmes provided by both NELFT and BHRUT provide routes into a variety of careers and opportunities at all levels – both for new apprentices starting out on their careers and for existing staff looking develop in their fields.
