Nutrition and dietetics
The nutrition and dietetic service offers expert nutritional advice in a variety of community and healthcare settings. Registered dietitians provide individual therapeutic dietary advice to patients who require special diets as part of medical treatment. The team aims to prevent ill health and improve the overall health of individuals by translating scientific information about food into practical dietary advice.
Services provided include:
- One-to-one clinics in health centres, covering a range of specialities including type 1 and type 2 diabetes, lipid lowering, allergies, IBS, nutrition support and weight management
- Visits to nursing homes across the borough
- Domiciliary and community visits
- Community based paediatric services
- Oncology and palliative care
- Health promotion
- Group education sessions for patients reducing their weight
- DAFNE programmes and conversation map, structured information for patients with diabetes
- COPD rehab sessions
- MUST training for health professionals

Referrals
Referrals are accepted from acute consultants, GP practices and health care professionals (band 6 and above). Referrals will be accepted through single point of access (SPA) by post, phone or fax.
