Barking and Dagenham Nutrition and dietetic service
The nutrition and dietetic service (Barking and Dagenham) offers expert nutritional advice in a variety of community and healthcare settings.
Registered dietitians provide individual therapeutic dietary advice to patients who require special diets as part of their medical treatment. We aim to prevent ill health and improve the overall health of individuals by translating scientific information about food into practical dietary advice.
Services provided include:
- one-to-one clinics in health centres, covering a range of specialities including type 1 and type 2 diabetes, lipid lowering, allergies, IBS, nutrition support and weight management
- visits to nursing homes across the borough
- domiciliary and community visits
- paediatric services, acute and community based
- oncology and palliative care
- health promotion
- group education sessions for weight reducing patients
- DESMOND and DAFNE programmes for patients with diabetes
- pulmonary rehab sessions
- lipid lowering sessions
- MUST training for health professionals
