Redbridge Well House is a local community alternative to hospital admission with access to trauma informed intervention and peer support; to reduce crises and to complement traditional, clinically-led approaches to crises. The service is delivered by Look Ahead Care and Support with clinical input from NELFT Redbridge mental health services. Well House can accommodate seven people for a period of two weeks.
Well House provides 24/7 enhanced support to respond inclusively and compassionately to mental health crises; promote safety and therapeutic support so users of service can return to their place of residence within a short period. This will have the effect of supporting crisis resolution in the least restrictive environment. People are encouraged to remain at the centre of their care, with informed choice over all aspects of this care and the inclusion of their chosen support network.
Well House takes a holistic approach to respecting people’s own understanding of their distress, their needs and strengths, and recognising all aspects of what brings meaning and value to people’s lives. This will include considering, and addressing as needed, the wider social aspects that may have precipitated their mental health crisis (such as safe housing, financial security, physical health, relationships).
People will be supported to maintain their personal activities of daily living; laundry; cooking and cleaning; financial management and accessing community resources to support discharge. As well as 24/7 support staff, people in Well House will have access to pharmacy, nursing, medical input, occupational therapy support and psychology.
