The Practice Experience Programme Team (PEPT) held a virtual celebratory event last week for nurses who successfully completed their rotation programme this year.

Every day, we value the care that our nursing support workers provide - but never has their work been more important than during our fight against COVID-19. So this year, for Nursing Support Workers Day, we want to shine a spotlight on the excellent work that these teams have provided throughout the pandemic.

Trans Awareness Week 2020 runs from Friday 13 to Friday 20 November, and ends with Trans Day of Remembrance on Friday 20 November.  

It was cheers and applause all round at Goodmayes Hospital as NHS staff waved a fond farewell to Mr Patel, 187 days after he was first admitted to hospital with COVID-19.

Dr Mohan Bhat, psychiatrist and associate medical director here at NELFT, has been committed to promoting mental health awareness throughout his whole career. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Bhat began a fundraising campaign with a focus on staff wellbeing. Dr Bhat has been using a Youtube cover series of classic Bollywood music videos he recorded himself to help push out his message.

Health, social care and community services in Thurrock are being transformed with the creation of four new integrated medical centres (IMC), and the first is due to start building work in the new year.

Congratulations are in order for Patrick Onyema, Trainee Nurse Associate at NELFT, who was Shortlisted for the Student Nursing Times Nursing Associate Trainee of the Year Award, after being nominated by Anglia Ruskin University – Chelmsford where he is completing his Nursing Associate course. 

We are thrilled to share that our very own Parminder Kaur Kondral, a Community Health and Social Care Administrator in Fairlop, has been recognised to receive an MBE by Her Majesty the Queen in the 2020 Honours List.

A new mental health improvement scheme for young people, called the Advantage programme, is being launched this month by three London football clubs – Arsenal, Leyton Orient and West Ham United (collectively known as London United) and various NHS specialists, including NELFT.

On October 14th each year, the annual Allied Health Professions (AHPs) Day takes place across the country.  This is an opportunity to recognise the contribution of AHPs to patient care and population health, as well as a chance to get to know and celebrate their skills and achievements.

National Coming Out Day was founded in 1988 and is celebrated every year on 11 October. The day is an opportunity for LGBTQ+ people to be out and proud, celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, and raise awareness of LGBTQ+ issues to colleagues, family and friends.

A new, state-of-the-art, simulation centre was launched at Goodmayes Hospital last week, by the Clinical Effectiveness Team, which will enable mental health and community professionals to develop their skills in simulated scenarios.
