Basildon and Brentwood

I am a consultant clinical psychologist working as the Clinical & Strategic Lead of Essex Mental Health Support Teams (a service for children and young people). I started with the NHS as a Band 3 support worker and have worked in positions at every banding up to my current post. I have also worked for a local authority, an independent healthcare provider, and a national charity organisation, and many moons ago I used to work as a mechanical engineer! 

I regularly draw on the breadth of my work experience within and outside the NHS in order to understand and empathise with the experience of my colleagues in different roles, wanting to ensure they feel listened to and know that I will action on our discussion for their benefit. The ability to be a conduit between people, treating everyone in a fair and equitable way, and leadership on causes that matter to staff, are all skills and qualities I seek to draw on in order to shoulder the responsibilities of Staff Governorship.
