I’ve been practicing podiatry for over 20 years. Beforehand I worked in multiple roles including logistics, administration, fact finding.

 

I’m presently utilising my above experience with learning more supporting nelft in an alternative role. I regularly keep up my clinical podiatry skills supporting voluntary agencies with treatment and guidance on foot care too.

 

My main agenda is the importance of communication. I’ve worked with many specialisms both within community and acute trusts. I found working closely together we can share knowledge and then have an understanding as to why an important choice is made in patient care.

 

Communication comes in many forms, and much is not through speaking. I’m keen that very important information is easily accessible taking into account how people are able understand. There can be many barriers both physically and psychologically as to why communication is compromised. It is important to identify what can be the barriers sooner not later.

 

I’m also an advocate of patients taking an active role in the management of their health , if unable to there is appropriate support too.
