Waltham Forest

A lifelong Waltham Forest resident, and service user for over 20 years, I am committed to ensuring equitable access to high-quality, patient-centred mental health treatment and care across the borough. My professional background encompasses the medical and life sciences, working for over 14 years as a scientist across the NHS pathology and cancer research sectors. I subsequently moved into patient engagement and outreach work, supporting patient organisations and advocates in mobilising representation to achieve patient centricity in clinical service and trial design, and addressing patient-physician communication needs. I currently work in medical education, supporting the training and continuing professional development needs of healthcare professionals. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking and gardening - dancing with family and friends whenever, and wherever, possible.

As a long-term service user (since 1999), I bring a sense of continuity and perspective. Drawing on my personal mental health journey, and professional healthcare experiences, I am committed to serving as a public governor with dedication, integrity and sincerity - and hope to build bridges between NELFT and the people and communities of Waltham Forest it serves.
