Sharing and learning knowledge go hand-in-hand
Our team is often looking for opportunities which allow us not only to learn and share our knowledge and experience around improvement, but also to connect with other internal and external NHS colleagues passionate about implementing positive change in the healthcare system.
The Clinical Audit and NICE team attended Kent virtual QI Conference on 6th October 2022, which they describe as "a day full of inspirational learning". Here are som valuable key learning points that we would like to share:
- Change isn’t easy, you have to find your ‘tribe’ to make change happen;
- We all have the power to make change happen and achieve our true potential. Whatever your potential is, multiply it by 10 times and that’s where you probably are. Together we all can make a difference.
- Kind and positive people are aware of their impact. The way you describe others is how people see you.
- If you are happy:
- your friends are 15% more likely to be happy;
- your friends’ friends’ are 10% more likely to be happy;
- your friends’ friends’ friends’ are 6% more likely to be happy;
- Community building and networking is lot better when using ‘hashtags’;
- Impact of Incivility is huge:
- 78% reduce their commitment to work;
- there is 50% reduction in willingness to help others;
- You are the average of five people you spend the most time with. We get more of what we focus on most;
- ‘DECIDE’ is a useful clinical decision making tool:
- D = Desired outcome
- E = Everyone in agreement
- C = Clinically justified
- I = Interests
- D = Detrimental
- E = Every time question your rationale
Thank you, KCFHT, for organising such a great quality improvement event! The Clinical Audit and NICE team enjoyed being part of it.
