Quality improvement Facilitator Training
The Quality Improvement Services were delighted to meet participants on our new Facilitator Training. Day one of Cohort 15 was held at CEME on 6 July and was our first face-to-face training session for NELFT staff since the beginning of the pandemic.
Our participants represent a range of NELFT Directorates, bandings and job roles, including Allied Health Professionals (Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy), Pharmacists, Administrators, Clinical Nurse Specialists and Communication Officers. We were also pleased to welcome one of our Patient Representatives onto the program.
Our day one agenda included:
- the importance of understanding your problem rather than rushing to find a solution
- an introduction to the origins of quality improvement and how it fits in with healthcare
- how to use available data to make sure that your improvement idea is targeting the right change at the right time
- how to get your team and your patients involved in choosing your project idea and supporting your improvement work
Some feedback from our attendees on the day:
‘It was exciting, kept everyone’s attention, very interactive and I have learned a lot’
‘Great introduction, good explanation of jargon’
‘Facilitators are fab!’
‘Good overview of QI and clarification of the myths around QI’
We are very much looking forward to supporting cohort 15 with their QI projects all the way through to graduation in December, and beyond!
