NELFT Quality Improvement Services- Student placement
Did you know that we offer student placement opportunities for both student nurses and student AHP’s? Quality Improvement Services is part of the Harm Free Care Circuit for student nurses who will spend time with our services, as well as Safeguarding team, Infection and Prevention and Control team and Clinical Effectiveness team. In the past we have also welcomed AHP students to spend time with us learning about quality improvement, which includes two methodologies: model for improvement and clinical audit cycle.
It was great to welcome back our first student nurse since the pandemic started! We were able to offer a virtual experience for them to learn about model for improvement and clinical audit cycle methodology. They had the opportunity to think about an improvement idea they would like to work on based on previous placement experiences and were able to work through: identifying the problem, involving stakeholders, collecting data and considering change ideas for a positive impact using both methodologies.
The student gave this feedback following their placement with us:
“Working with you all has opened up my thoughts and ideas, recognising the importance of quality improvement and how it is a huge part of positive change and the safety of patients”
We look forward to hosting more students in the future to help them along their quality improvement journey and make positive sustained change for better patient outcomes!
