Our impact
The entire Trust has felt the positive impact of donations, fundraising and gifts in wills from our kind, thoughtful and generous supporters.
Here are some of the ways where your donations have made a difference.
Mayflower Hospital garden improvements
A request was received from our Prosthetics service who are based at the Mayflwoer Hospital in Billericay, for garden boxes, to create an area in which service users are able to get enjou the outdoor space.
We answered the call and provided the boxes and the staff spent their spare time painting them in bright colourse to make them look cheerful and attractive for the garden area. The teams at the hospital are continuing to work with us to look at further donations towards gardening equipment and continuing their vision for reimagining the outdoor space.
Titian ward sensory room
The charity team were excited to be able to go to Titian Ward, which is a male psychiatric intensive care ward at Sunflowers Court, to see how our funding has supported the ward to create a sensory room.
One of their unused rooms had been transformed from an empty space to a highly engaging, quality sensory area, which service users will be able to access in order to support their sensory needs.
Many thanks to Nicole Sewell and Sufia Chowdhury for their support and the Friends of Goodmayes for their generous donation which allowed the project to complete.
Brookside Unit - School holidays activities
Donations were used to help facilitate a range of activities during the half term Holidays, as part of the therapeutic programme run at Brookside, within the inpatient unit.
Through activities funded by the Health Way Foundation, young people had access to creative, self-care and sensory sessions that made an impact on their ability to self-regulate and attend to their emotional and physical needs more independently.
Kent and Medway Adolescent Hospital - School holidays activities
Funded by donations, the team at the Kent and Medway Adolescent Hospital were able to provide a full programme of activities across all school holidays for the young people.
The activities kept the young people occupied through an enhanced timetable, with activies such as baking, games, community access trips and much more! This provided young people with a space to play, have fun and engage in meaningful occupations, as well as allowing them to delvop life skills such as teamwork, better communication skills, ADL independence and more.
Foodbank support
The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in Dartford were going above and beyond their daily work tasks to support their service users, by creating an accessible food bank which has been funded by staff.
The NELFT NHS Charity heard their story and granted a £100 voucher to allow the team to stock up the foodbank with basic additional items and some added extras to support those struggling during the holiday period.
Christmas presents to inpatients
The NELFT NHS Charity continued its annual tradition of giving Christmas presents to inpatients. Over 400 presents were delivered by members of our Board to sites across London, Essex and Kent.
Thank you to all the wonderful staff members who worked on Christmas Day and helped to hand our presents out to patients.
Memorial artwork in honour of staff lost to COVID-19
In 2022, NELFT unveiled a commemorative artwork, in memory of seven members of staff who sadly died from COVID-19, whilst working in the response to the pandemic.
The memorial was funded by the Health Way Foundation. More information can be found here.
