One to two weeks of:

• Work experience observing different clinicians working with patients in mental health services
• Talks on medical careers
• Mock interviews for Medical school 

A-Level Students -Year 12 or above

Applicants must be at least 16 years of age at the start of their placement

2nd Year Medical Students MedSoc Placements

6 days of work experience through an academic year in a mental health service with the aim of:

• Identifying the impact of chronic illness on the patients
• Experience being a part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team
• Develop skills of taking a social history from patients
• Describe the impact of public health interventions

4th Year Medical Students Clinical Placements

5 weeks of clinical placement in psychiatry with the following structure:

• 2 weeks of general adult psychiatry
• 1 taster week
• 2 weeks of older adult psychiatry

Small group teaching & role-play to develop basic clinical skills for on the following topics:

• Depressive disorders
• Mania/Hypomania episodes
•  Alcohol misuse
