Supply shortage of medicines for ADHD

The Department of Health and Social Care have alerted us that there is national supply disruption of the medication prescribed to help manage ADHD symptoms. This  is caused by a combination of manufacturing issues and an increased global demand.

Who are we?

NELFT CAMHS (Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services) deliver a range of services to support positive emotional wellbeing and mental health.

What do I do if I need support?

  • Have you looked at the relevant information, self-help options and advice on our CAMHS resources page?
  • Have you accessed support from the suggested Apps, websites and organisations listed?
  • Have you discussed your concerns with school or college? Are you still struggling? If so, and you feel you might need more help, it may be that speaking to a trained member of the team might be helpful.
  • Sometimes children and young people might also need more specialist support when they may be going through a particularly difficult time, and have tried different ways of getting help but these have not worked. In these cases, our team may refer you to a specialist mental health worker.

Our team can support children and young people with emotional and mental health difficulties, such as:

  • Feeling sad or like you don’t want to be here any more
  • Hurting yourself or thinking of hurting yourself
  • Feeling anxious and scared
  • Having problems with eating and food
  • Find it hard to concentrate or get on with friends
  • Having trouble talking and relating to people
  • Difficulty with sleep
  • Hearing voices or seeing things
  • Struggling to control your behaviour or temper
  • Having problems at school or with friends
  • Have to check or repeat things, or worry about germs
  • You don’t like yourself, or have low self-confidence

What don’t CAMHS do?

Not all mental health difficulties can be “cured” and you may need to meet with our team more than once. Lots of things can impact on our mental health, some of which are beyond anyone’s control. Instead we work with you to help you learn how to manage your difficulties, in many cases overcoming them is absolutely possible.

There may also be some difficulties or experiences which we are not the best service to support you with. In these cases we will help you access appropriate help from other organisations, such as drug & alcohol and bereavement services, plus many others.
