NELFT marks International Nurses’ Day
International Nurses’ Day is celebrated around the world every 12th May, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth.
NELFT employs over 2000 nurses in a range of roles across localities in North East London, Essex, and Kent. From newly qualified nurses to those working in the community to our mental health nurses and our nursing leadership teams. Each and every one of them is instrumental in the care of patients of all ages across both our community and mental health services.
This year’s theme is the economic power of care looking at how investing in nursing can bring considerable economic and social benefits.
NELFT’s Executive Chief Nursing Officer/ Executive Director of Allied Health Professionals & Psychological Professions, Wellington Makala, said:
“I am so proud of all the incredible work our nurses do here at NELFT. International Nurses’ Day is a time to celebrate the remarkable difference nurses make to patients each and every day.
“Our nurses are the backbone of the Trust and dedicate themselves to providing the best possible care to their patients at every stage of their lives. I am so glad to see our nurses recognised and commended for their remarkable work.”
The Trust is sharing nurses’ stories to mark this day and celebrate their everyday work helping patients in the community.
